Kingwood Hall by Todd Wolf

Kingwood Hall has been built out of Lego by NEOLUG member Todd Wolf. It is currently on display inside the building. If you are heading down to see Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects sculptures, be sure to check out Todd’s sculpture of Kingwood Hall as well. More details about Kingwood Garden Center’s grounds can be found at their website.

The show is free and open to the public this December 4, 2022 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Solon Historical Society is located at 33975 Bainbridge Rd, Solon, OH 44139.

Lego Artist from NEOLUG show Christmas creations at FOX8’s 17th Annual Operation Giving Tree

It was snow filled cloudy day, and NEOLUG members strapped on their snowshoes and hiked 2 or more miles uphill in the snow with their MOCs strapped to their backs.  Their destination:  FOX8’s front yard to participate in the 17th Annual Operation Giving Tree event.  Upon arrival NEOLUG’s LEGO artists setup a Christmas winter scene display for all the attending children (and adult children at heart) to say – “Yeah, Olaf is here!!”.

Despite the less than cooperative weather, the event was well attended and a glowing success for the charitable event.  Folks from the community drove up and helped out Santa by giving generous donations to support needy families in 5 local counties.  When the event ended, NEOLUG put back on their snowshoes, and hiked 2 or miles uphill filled with the warmth of the happy folks attending the event.  Whichever Holiday you celebrate, may it be joy and happiness.

Deck The Hall 2022: Gracious Gathering

This year, NEOLUG has been given the task of decorating the Butler’s Pantry. NEOLUG has been working for a few months on what will be displayed this year. You will need to come and see it all.

We did want to give you a preview of what will be there: this lit gingerbread house from NEOLUG member CJ De Groff. CJ built LEGO’s retired Gingerbread House, set 10267 from 2019. There will be plenty of MOCs from the members of NEOLUG there as well, but you will need to stop by Stan Hywet to see them all

All tickets are pre-sale only. Event dates are Nov 25 – 27, Dec 1 – 4, Dec 8 – 23, Dec 26 – 30, and the estate remains open until 9:00 PM all nights.

Deck The Hall 2021: Lights, Cameras, CHRISTMAS!

While sipping hot cocoa of course, organizer and Stan Hywet volunteer Todd Wolf, summoned the creative power of NEOLUG’s membership to build an updated version of the Lego city display in New Line Cinema’s 2003 Christmas classic, Elf. There have been many different pieces created in 18 years by the Lego Company, and NEOLUG members were honored to accept this challenge. Come visit our display located in Stan Hywet’s Dining Room.

Included in your tour of the Manor House is 21 spaces staged to resemble family favorite and classic Christmas movies – with 25 decorated trees to create a festive holiday atmosphere throughout. The tour will begin in the Reception Room which will resemble a movie theatre lobby decorated with ticket stubs, candy, and popcorn. Then it is off to the start the tour in the Estate.

Remember to dress for the weather, and enjoy the outdoor grounds as well.

Event dates are Nov 26 – 28, Dec 2 – 5, Dec 9 – 23, Dec 26 – 30, and the estate remains open until 9:00 PM all nights.

Update and New Member Applications

We see a light at the end of the tunnel!! What this means, is current membership anticipates having in person meetings and events in 2021. We are beginning to think, not plan, events and meetings. This will be contingent on current membership’s ability and willingness to have in person meetings and events. What does this means for you?

Live Events: We do not have anything scheduled in 2021. While we are not looking for events today, we have been contacted with some interest. When we find an event that we are willing and able to attend, and have a high confidence will not be cancelled, we will update our calendar with the event information and announcement that on the website so our fans can plan to attend. Stay tuned.

New Membership Applications: We have received tremendous interest in joining NEOLUG – thank you. In the coming weeks (hopefully not months), we will begin reaching out to individuals who have shown interest in joining NEOLUG. We will confirm that interest still exists, and verify your application information if needed. We are eager to meet with the applicants, and this will be done as a group meeting with current membership and prospects in attendance to discover mutual interest – maybe new friendships as well. I personally like a timeline, so I will suggest that if you haven’t received an email from us by June 30, 2021, then you should submit a new application. Remember, current membership needs to be both willing and able to have meetings. There is no visibility to when that can happen; just a light at the end of the tunnel that indicates it will happen at a future point we believe to be in 2021. We hope we are not wrong.

Click Here to apply for membership. Remember, this is an adult fans of LEGO® group. Age 18+ is a requirement. Again, we are very excited about the prospect of conducting activities in 2021. We look forward to sharing our creations, and reconnecting with fans , in person, in 2021.

Keep safe, and keep building 🙂
